Packs operate differently. Some packs incorporate specific faith and religious activities, while others do not. In Pack 584, we believe that Scouting transcends any one individual or religion. By welcoming individuals from all religious beliefs and philosophical positions, including non-theistic traditions such as Buddhist and Unitarian, Scouting can better fulfill its vision of preparing youth to become responsible, participating citizens and leaders. We also recognize that faith is a personal journey and we encourage families to guide their scouts in the beliefs that they find most appropriate.
In a brief survey, we asked families of Pack 584 about their religious background. Here are the unique responses we got:
Article 9, Section 1, Clause 1 of the scouting Charter and By Laws states:
"The Boy Scouts of America, therefore, recognizes the religious element in the training of the member, but it is absolutely nonsectarian in its attitude toward that religious training. "

Its policy is that the home and the organization or group with which the member is connected shall give definite attention to religious life."
